Asbestos Visual Inspection

What is an asbestos visual inspection?

An asbestos visual inspection is the first step in determining the presence of asbestos in your home. Before the commencement of any renovation or demolition work, it is definitely in your best interest to ensure there are no asbestos containing materials present that could become damaged and possibly release asbestos fibres into the air.

At GreenerWay Hazmat Removal NSW we can organise an asbestos visual inspection. However, the only way to be completely sure as to whether your home contains asbestos is to conduct a visual test in conjunction with sampling. This test involves carefully taking a sample from materials in your home suspected of containing asbestos and sending it off to a specialist laboratory for analysis.

Visual testing after asbestos removal

An asbestos visual inspection will also be required once asbestos removal of non friable asbestos has been carried out. A visual inspection/clearance inspection involves an asbestos assessor looking for evidence of dust and debris in the asbestos removal area and the area immediately surrounding it to make sure that they are free of asbestos contamination.

Visual Inspection/Clearance Inspection after Friable asbestos removal

As with non friable asbestos removal, an asbestos visual inspection will be required once the removal of friable asbestos has been carried out. A visual inspection/clearance inspection involves a licensed asbestos assessor looking for evidence of dust and debris in the asbestos removal area and the area immediately surrounding it to make sure that they are free of asbestos contamination. This inspection is performed in conjunction with a clearance air monitoring test. The visual inspection and the air monitoring test must be carried out for an asbestos clearance certificate can be issued for friable asbestos removal.
